Just set up 7.1 and it looks good < 20 hrs download and i dont regret it>
Im in kind of a muddle here as i cant seem to hook up to my cable connection on the wingate server PC <windows>
Allso when i click on network or linux conf in the control panel nothing happens
when i click on network in the linux file "explorer"
i just get " unable to reach local host .
the nic card is there all right and i have set my ip
192.168.0.2 and gateway 192.168.0.1 < thats the wingate server >
the cable providers DNS allso is there
I seem to be missing a network configuration utility like when you right click/properties in windows "network neighbourhood"
I loaded the linuxconf and networkconf from the CD RPM
but I AM LOST .
I need to get the lan working before win gate will work I know its possible .....
I did manage to hook up with a modem though ..
has anybody been through this please
I checked on and saw that I would have to install the samba server But isnt that like windows netbeui surrely i can do this with TCP/IP (it has to be tcp/ip for wingate !!
