Unhappy Sendmail... or rather, sending mail

Hi!

I want to connect to a mail server at my school from my home computer and send mail from it. I guessed sendmail would be a good program for it, but I cant figure out any way how to make it work! I know the school uses encrypted SSL connections with authentication but that tells me just about nothing...

Please, I need some (or a lot) help here...
Thanks in advance!

Is there a reason you want to use sendmail? It is really for delivering mail. Try evolution.

Yes I'm writing a java program that should scan a file for names/emails/etc and send to a bunch of people in a list. And since there is only people in my school on the list I'm concerned that the school server is the sender.

For sending mail to a bunch of people, you can use any mailserver. Why do you want to use schools?
