Sending file using telnet

Hey i have linux red hat 9.0 and i was wondering how can i send a file to some one else on the net using only terminal?

can you please explain your problem with a bit more detail.

I am not sure you can send a file using telnet. You can of course use other methods like ftp or scp or sftp.

sorry for that crapy explanation
im preaty new to linux and i have just figured out how to connect to other computers through internet and now i was wondering how can i send them some files
