I have Open Sure Leap 15 installed and was wondering if there is a native support for screen casting/mirroring as I want to cast videos/music to my laptop from my mobile (Galaxy Note 4).
I really like the simplicity of the set up in Windows and was wondering if there is a way to have the same on my Suse laptop :-).
Many thanks for your reply. I tried it already and it didn't work. My phone connects to my Samsung TV without an issue via YouTube app installed on the TV. I can aslo stream to Windows 10 installed on my laptop (dula boot with Windows/Suse).
It looks there is no easy way to do it. Or at least I haven't found one yet. It is literally two clicks on Windows 10 :-). No mirror cast sticks required. I would think Linux would have something similar out of the box.
If someone has a solution please let me know - thanks :-).
It's not clear to me what you tried. Anyway, it is possible to share media using DLNA software, with the Samsung device acting as a DLNA server, and VLC running on the Linux host (as a DLNA client) for example.
I want to be able to cast anything from YouTube or other Website from my phone to my laptop. Can you do that with VLC? I do not want to set up media servers etc. I just want to screen cast. Windows 10 allows me to do that in two clicks without any Google chromecast sticks.
I get that you would like to do screen casting. I was just proposing an alternative strategy assuming there was media you wanted to share. Anyway, a quick search online turned up this screen casting "how to" (using Screen Cast app) which might be suitable for your needs...
