Hi all
This is probably a stupid question but I have wifi disabled on my laptop running ubuntu 14.04, and I access the net through an android phone via usb, and that android device gets ITS internet connection through wifi. Is there any way that I can use network scanners and such through usb0 interface? Or a way to bridge the connected device's wifi scanning capabilities?
No, it is not possible (You would have to gain access to the Android OS from the Linux client somehow). Effectively, the tethering allows you to share internet access, but you will not have visibility of the wireless device. (The phone is acting as a router really.)
Thanks for the reply!
Ok, I understand. Lets say I have root priviledges on the device and all necessary linux-to-android tools (ADB,SDK etc.), would it be possible-with total access to the device-to scan from an ADB shell? I have a feeling that I should be posting this elsewhere...forgive but I'm still new to this.
Perhaps. I don't know what capabilities or access to the Android device that ADB provides. As this is a Linux orientated forum, you're probably best to ask questions like this at an Android forum eg
