Unhappy Rsync-/usr/bin/rsync: Argument list too long


Hi
I am trying to send lakh of small(JPG,PDF) files from one server to another. So am using rsync which helps differential copy, but when using it getting error as /usr/bin/rsync: Argument list too long.

Kindly help, other than rsync if any option is also there kindly update.

since you gave almost no information we can hardly help you further. I think you need to rethink how to invoke that tool. Or you may try to split that command into several parts. Also you may try to construct that command in perl or other languages where there is no limitation on it.

Every system has a limit on length of arguments.

So how are you using rsync to send files?

You can specify a directory contents with e.g. 'rsync src/ dest'.

How much is a lakh?
