rsync: failed to set times on "/data/directoryname/.": Operation not permitted (1)

The only way I've ever been able to fix these issue is not really a fix, I delete the folder in question and let rsync recreate it.

What's the real way to fix an error like this? It's doing a rsync -razp -e ssh

Hi,

it depends on what is causing it. Eg ownership and/or permissions of the directory -> chown and/or chmod.
