RHN Satellite or RHN Classic support will be disabled.

Hello,

Looking for some help on my little problem, i'm using Red Hat 5.6

Quote:
Red Hat Enterprise Linux Client release 5.6 (Tikanga)
Kernel \r on an \m
I registered the license few months ago, but now i'm trying to install some packages through yum but it doesn't work, take a look:

Quote:
#yum install bind
Loaded plugins: rhnplugin, security
There was an error communicating with RHN.
RHN Satellite or RHN Classic support will be disabled.
Error communicating with server. The message was:
Proxy Authentication Required
Setting up Install Process
No package bind available.
Nothing to do
You have new mail in /var/spool/mail/root
I already configured the /etc/yum.conf to pass through the proxy:

Quote:
#cat /etc/yum.conf
[main]
cachedir=/var/cache/yum
keepcache=0
debuglevel=2
logfile=/var/log/yum.log
distroverpkg=redhat-release
tolerant=1
exactarch=1
obsoletes=1
gpgcheck=1
plugins=1

# Note: yum-RHN-plugin doesn't honor this.
metadata_expire=1h

# Default.
# installonly_limit = 3

# PUT YOUR REPOS HERE OR IN separate files named file.repo
# in /etc/yum.repos.d

######################
###PROXY CONFIGURATION###
proxy=http://proxy.house.es:8080
proxy_username=******
proxy_password=******
So, i'm quite confuse right now, could be this a problem with license? i did the same process on a CentOS machine (obviously behind my proxy) and the installation was perfect, but on this red hat is impossible....

Any hints please?

Thanks

Let's apply Occam's Razor here and focus on: "Proxy Authentication Required"

Talk to the proxy admin and work with him to see what the problem is. If you are the proxy admin, then view the service logs to determine what is happening.

Also, compare the above carefully with the working Centos system. Could be a typo.

Solved

Hello,

It has been SOLVED...i followed the instructions here: http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...-proxy-686944/

In resume: the problem was not exactly on the /etc/yum.conf instead i had to change the file /etc/sysconfig/rhn/up2date and update the following information:

Quote:
enableProxy[comment]=Use a HTTP Proxy
enableProxy=0 (change it to 1)

proxyPassword[comment]=The password to use for an authenticated proxy
proxyPassword= (put proxy password)

proxyUser[comment]=The username for an authenticated proxy
proxyUser= (put proxy username)

httpProxy[comment]=HTTP proxy in hostort format, e.g. squid.redhat.com:3128
httpProxy= (put http_proxy environment variable)

enableProxyAuth[comment]=To use an authenticated proxy or not
enableProxyAuth=0 (Change it to 1)
The weird thing is why i've to change this upt2date file...

Thanks
