Question RHN Kernal Update

I have RHN setup to search for updates and let me know when there are any to be installed. By default it is set not to download/install kernal updates. I was wondering why this is? And should I download/install them?

Thanks in advance.

As far as being a non-default update, the kernel is a pretty big update size wise and system wise. It's not like updating some small program. If you want to live on the bleeding edge of kernel development for RedHat, then maybe you want to, if it doesn't matter and you are happy with what's already setup and want to wait for a more stable or major kernel update then it's not really a big thing. Things could get messy if you updated the kernel everytime some small fix was made etc,...If the fix is important enough then you may want the new kernel...you get what i'm saying i hope. lol

Yes, thanks for the reply. I understand what you are saying. IT's not like Windows update where you MUST install every little update sent out. Thanks.
