RHEL 6 - Problem while pvcreate..please help


I have created a LVM type logical partition /dev/sda5 ..when i am trying to preate physical volume with pvcreate command its saying ..Device /dev/sda5 not found or ignored by filtering...not getting the reason of problem can somebody throw some light please..

/proc/partitions is also not showing the newly created lvm type /dev/sda5..though i have used partx -a /dev/sda5....please help.

Does the device node /dev/sda5 exist? Have you tried running partprobe?

Show the output of fdisk -l or partprobe /dev/sda and run the pvcreate command again
