RH9 Lauchers/Commands ???

I've got RH9 installed and I have a question about configuring application launcers. A few of the launchers that came by default with RH9 use a "%" followed by another character. For example:

The xmms launcher is: xmms -e %F
and
Mozilla is: mozilla %u

My question is what does the % character do and where is this documented.

TIA

Ray

Its a metaparameter,

I have never been inrigued by this before but after a quick bounce around google it turns out that when running something like xmms, it would be nice to have a file. so %F invokes it with n arguments (file name), Then when its xmms is running and you double click on a song on the playlist xmms %F changes to xmms filename.mp3 or whatever. well thats my understanding from what i just read, the link is here

Would check it but work despises linux

Thanks for the help. But I'm still trying to find out where metaparamers are documented. When I searched google for: Linux metaparameters the results were rather meager.

When you searched google what was your query string.

Thanks
