RH 8.0 locking up while attempting to install

Fresh copy of RH 8.0 CD's, mediacheck runs correctly from other computers.

When booting, I am presented with a pure text screen with my options. When attempting to install either in graphic or text mode, or when attempting to do mediacheck from the target PC, the install hangs. (will edit this with exact location in a few moments).

Upon inserting CD's into wife's machine to run mediacheck, I was not amused to see that on HER machine, she gets a nice RH logo, and color text options that are missing from mine, leaving me thinking it's a conflict with my video card.

Heres the stats:
MSI-6590 KT400
AMD 2400+
ATI Radeon 8500DV (with firewire enabled)
Realtek 8139 NIC
SB Live Gamers Edition
1gb of Mushkin 2.2.2
Maxtor 120GB 8mb Cache
USB Mouse connected directly to MB, USB hub also connected but empty

Can anyone spot any obvious incompatibilities here?

ESR value before enabling Vector: 00000002

that is the last thing I see before it freezes...occasionally it'll output a few characters of gibberish after this, sometimes it just stops...

Any ideas?

Everything looks fine to me.. the only thing I can think of is unplugging the USB mouse and hub and plugging in a PS/2 mouse, if you don't have a PS/2 mouse you can always run a text install..
