Resolution problem in ubuntu 9.10


Hi, Iam using ubuntu 9.10 iam having low resolution 800*600 how can i change it, i cant see another resolution in system>prederences>display it is having only 800*600and 640*480. some body telling that edit xorg.config file i don't know what i have to edit in that file. please please tell me the solution step by step.

Your system is using a default video driver for your Intel graphics. You need to do some research to find out if your Intel card is supported and what driver module you need. Google is your friend.

I did a google search on 9.10 and your graphics card. There were many problems on that old release of Ubnutu and that graphics card.

Copy this line in to the search bar on Google, and look for your self.

I would suggest installing a later version of Ubuntu, or Mint linux. Ubuntu 10.04 is a LTS ( Long Term Support ) version.

You should not see these issues on a newer version, there are fixes for known problems.
