Unhappy Render Job SuperComputer help


I am currently on a project to build a mini supercomputer using linux for the purpose of rendering images for 3d movies..im using maya 2008 and I found out online that you can build a render farm using old computers so I got my hands on some old comps..the link where I found out what render que information was http://www.extremetech.com/article2/...1847413,00.asp im very new to linux..I download Fedora 10 and instilled it onto one computer and was planning to do that for the rest but I accounted some simple errors like how to instill packages and how to set up a network to send out job from a head computer to all the slaves..I was at a complete loss and wanted to know where to start is fedora 10 good or to use or ubuntu what should I know first before I start to go ahead with this project any help will be greatly appreciated..and sorry for all the misspelled words

Smile update

I have now 4 computers with fadora 10 on them and I have 3 more instill right now I have some hooked up to a hub but I need to buy some Ethernet cables...

I got the ethernet cables im starting to hook them up to the hub I dont know what to do from here

This seems to be rather a blog of your activities, and you already mentioned software install problems on FC10 in another thread. Just to give this thread some informational value, please post what kind of exact software packages you attempt to install, what the error messages are, and how you intend to set up the local network. Setting up a renderfarm is no miracle, but it also isn't as easy as you seem to assume it.

Please provide a link to where you got help from. Or repost that info here. I would be interested in setting up a render farm on linux as well.
