Remove package from RPM database?

Hello group,

I'm a newb to the RPM tool. I'm using FC2, and trying to install MySQL. I've successfully jacked up my install and I'd like to start from *scratch*. I've deleted everything that seems to relate to what I think installed with the MySQL package, but rpm still thinks it is installed:

Code:
# rpm -qa |grep MySQL
MySQL-client-4.0.20-0
MySQL-server-4.0.20-0
Yet when I try to uninstall it, RPM tells me it is not installed. AT first it simply told me "package xxx is not installed." Now I get:

Code:
# rpm -e MySQL-server-4.0.20-0
error reading information on service mysql: No such file or directory
error: %preun(MySQL-server-4.0.20-0) scriptlet failed, exit status 1
How can I remove EVERYTHING and make RPM think MySQL never existed???

TIA,

Breddy

Have you tried:

rpm -e --nodeps MySQL-server

Or try reinstalling and then uninstall. No need to give the version number in the command.
