RedHat 8.0

Hello. I was attempting to help a friend of mine whom I recently got interested in Linux. DemoLinux failed to work properly. RedHat 8.0 installed fine, but the boot disk it made doesn't work and it locks up during system startup at the "Bringup up lookback interface" part. I may try the latest Mandrake tomorrow. It's a laptop - a Sony VAIO PCG-FXA36.

try ctrl+x on boot if it's lilo and type

Was the bootdisk made during or after installation?Is it booting up without the bootdisk?
