Redhat 5.2

After having a Redhat 5.2 CD lying around my desk for a few years, I finally got around to upgrade my Windows machine and free up some hardware for a Linux Box. 5.2 is now installed.

Although a computer user for many years, I am totally new to Linux and finding it all a little hard going.

I am trying to configure xwindows using the Xconfigurator with my Matrox (MGA - 200 8Mb) graphics card. I can’t seem to get the correct settings. Does anyone know what the correct settings should be for this card or if this card is even supported by the 5.2 redhat release..? ? ?

Should I get a later copy of Linux or persevere with what I've got..??

I would suggest upgrading your Redhat to a later version or you can update xfree86 for later version to get X working for you.

Just get a 7.2 RedHat cd and put that in there, it will be so much easier for you.

Thanks for the advice folks....

Can you tell me... is it possible to upgrade over the net for just the relevant files needed to bring me up to a v7 release...??

I like the ethos of Linux and therefore a bit reluctant to fork out the £80 PCworld (London) want for the CD. Especially after forking out recently for a Win2000 upgrade.

Thanks

Regards All...
