Red Hat apt-get questions

I did apt-get update in order to refresh list of files, but if i apt-get install xmame it say that the newer version is already installed and this is not true because i have x-mame 0.70 and the last version is 0.77.
Why?

yah but, the latest version as of you sources is <= 0.70 and it sees you have 0.70, so thats why it is saying that ...
you will have to find a repository that has a newer version of xmame on it, and add that repository to your source list, and then you'll be able to get it through apt ..
