Hi, I recently used partition magic in xp without creating backup(I know its dumb) to convert a primary partition to logical partition in my external hd. An error occured which messed everything up and it became corrupted. Well not necessarily corrupted since I can access all my files. I have VectorLinux in my external HD and it runs fine too. All my other partitions are visible both on my kubuntu and my xp so on that aspect everything is fine.
However, when I open up partition magic, gparted or qtparted they cannot detect the partitions in my external hd. It sees it as corrupted. Hence I cannot edit my partitions.
I downloaded Gpart and done
and I received an error
Code:
** Error: invalid extended ptbl found at sector(975338280).
It did however detect 4 possible partitions atm out of 6 (still running as I write) and it has been running for a good half an hour now.
My question is apart from gpart how else can I recover my partitions? I could try and copy all my files and reformat everything but I have no place to put it at
so thats not an option.
