hi linux maestro's,I have a question which regards on configuring sendmail or postfix as a mailserver,Is it possible that when this mail server is configured can clients can open their email using via windows machine's microsoft outlook?

Yes, but you need a mail server not a mail transfer agent for that. First you will need to decide if you want Outlook to get it's mail via POP or IMAP (you should probably want IMAP), in which case you have aseveral options including dovecot, cyrus-imap, uw-imap plus others.
