Python2.4


hi all....

I m using RH9.... I need Python 2.4 for my system.... Where shall i get the required rpms..... i visited python.org but the rpms are for Fedora Core 3... So my questions are:-

1. Whre shall i get Python 2.4 rpms for RH9?

2. If i try to install the rpm(meant for fedora core 3) in RH 9, will it work?

Do you have python installed now? Is it an older version? I would try using apt-get and see what version it installs. If its an older version you could probably change your apt-get repository to something a little more bleeding edge and perhaps this will get python 2.4.

I'm wondering why you need python 2.4. Gentoo's utilities are almost entirely based in python and 2.4 hasn't been marked stable yet in the Gentoo portage tree.

Is there something in 2.4 that you can't do in 2.3 or is this a dependency thing?
