Python source directory

im trying to install pyGTK, and you need to know the directory where python was installed. i installed it using an rpm, does anyone have any idea where it could be? this is what i need to do

Compilation
===========

PyGTK uses the standard autotools for the build infrastructure. To
build, it should be as simple as running:

$ ./configure --prefix=<prefix where python is installed>
$ make
$ make install

" i installed it using an rpm, does anyone have any idea where it could be?"

You can find out where a rpm installed its files with:
rpm -ql python | less

"does anyone know what my problem is?"

You may need to install the python-devel package.
