Unhappy ProFTPd - Change proftpd.conf location ('not found' error)

Hello

I am using Webmin on Fedora 7, and I am trying to change the location of the proftpd.conf configuration file.

I used Webmin to change the location (in the ProFTPd module settings), and it saved successfully. I wanted to change (in effect 'move') the .conf file from its default location of /etc/proftpd.conf to /etc/proftd/proftpd.conf .

So what I did was change the webmin proftpd module configuration to point to there, and i made the appropriate folder and also copied the conf file there, so webmin would detect it before i saved the changes.

well, when i changed the module config in webmin, it saved the changes fine, but when i try to login via ftp, it fails, so i checked the messages file for proftpd and it states it can't find the /etc/proftpd.conf file, even though i changed it in webmin to /etc/proftpd/proftpd.conf ...??

i am also using proftpd with xinetd.

why is it giving this error? do i need to restart xinetd, or is there some other dependancy i have forgotten about?

Thanks.

I'm not using webmin so I don't know how it works. But it should restart xinetd since you've made changes to a daemon that is running through xinetd.
Another thing you can check is /etc/xinetd.d/proftpd and make sure that the line in server args points to the new location of proftpd.conf.

Regards
