Unhappy problems with swat

hey all, having a problem with swat. When I try to connect through my web browser it gives me an error.

An error occured while loading http://127.0.0.1:901

Could not connect to host 127.0.0.1 (port 901)

Xinetd.conf is configured properly and /etc/services has 901 listed for swat. No firewall running on the system.
Already ran /sbin/chkconfig swat on...still nothing
ran ln -s ../swat swat from the /usr/share/samba directory too...still nothin'

Please help.

Running RH 7.3

yes, my own computer. Just trying to get it to work. I don't think it matters whether I am going across the network or just going in locally.

It doesn't matter if I actually put in my IP address either, or my host name. It just won't work. Please help, I have exhausted all efforts. Thanks in advance

I am a newbie but the thread I found had the following answers that may help you.

Solution one: (from Donald1000)

If you are starting SWAT with xinetd it has to look like this:

## /etc/xinetd.d/swat
service swat
{
port = 901
socket_type = stream
wait = no
only_from = localhost
user = root
server = /usr/local/samba/bin/swat
log_on_failure += USERID
disable = No
}

-----

Write in /etc/hosts.allow
swat : localhost : allow

Solution 2: (from born4linux)

what donald means is to run this as root:

/sbin/chkconfig swat on

Then retry accessing 127.0.0.1:901

Hope these will help you. I am working on getting all of this running this weekend, but I don't have access to my linux box at the moment to test any of this.
