Hi, hoping you can help me as I've looked around to sort out my problem and ended up more confused than ever! What I wanted to do was make a bootable usb stick of Puppeee to use on my eee pc 2G surf as I hate the default set-up. My intention was to burn iso to CD, boot from it on my PC, and then from within Puppeee make a bootable usb stick. So I burnt the CD, booted from it and the following came up;

eee-504.sfs not found. Dropping out to initial-ramdisk console /bin/sh: can't access tty: job control turned off

Hoping this means something to someone, but if not any alternative suggestions would be appreciated.

Have you verified the MD5 sums of the ISO you downloaded, and checked to make sure it's a good burn?

Will give it a try once I've found out how to do this - will check out help on web, but it would be good if someone could help with this. Also as I'm new to forums, tell me how do I check for similar posts?

As you can see, I'm an absolute idiot with computers - it amazes me that I managed to install linux mint on my very old computer at all! Still I have to say I've never regretted it - hate windows, hate viruses, hate having to pay for software!

Can't wait to be using puppeee or breezy on my eee pc - it will make it much more useful.

Tried what you suggested but failed miserably. Sorry to admit I gave up with this idea after spending two days trying to sort it out. Also attempted creating a usb pendrive of breeezy - failed with this also! What an idiot!!! Finally downloaded EasyPeasy and followed instruction on the website it worked like a dream.

EasyPeasy was a good alternative to Puppeee or Breeezy but continued with my efforts with Puppeee - glad I did cos' I finally cracked it following directions from web. So for anyone else having problems with getting started with puppeee for their eee pc this is what I did:

downloaded puppeee iso in windows
downloaded Lili in windows
used Lili in windows to produce usb stick - instructions clear for any beginner!

Like puppeee better; includes firefox, google chrome as standard, and the layout of the desktop is much less cluttered - and all this on a 2G usb. Think I will upgrade to a 8G usb - will allow me to add some of my favourite programmes such as thunderbird!!!
