My usual reaction to any Red Hat license related problem is why not use Centos instead.

If you have paid for Red Hat support, this is the kind of error message that you should ask them to deal with for you. But I assume you haven't paid for support.

If you are not paying for Red Hat support, it makes a lot more sense to install Centos instead of Red Hat. The software is the same, but access to the Centos repositories is free.

I don't know what repository access you get with a free/demo and/or expired RHEL4 license. I would not want to be bothered figuring it out. With Centos you get access to the whole repository.

Also, if you are convinced to dump RHEL and switch to Centos, you might at the same time drop 4 and switch to 5.3
