Problem with syslog-ng on SUSE11
I am encountering a probelm with syslog-ng after I upgraded SUSE to 11 (suse-1164 2.6.27.19-5-default).
If I run the following commandline with the default syslog-ng.conf - logger -p local0.err "hello today", I am able to see the log message in /var/log/localmessages. But if I modify syslog-ng.conf with following statements -
destination localmessages { file("/home/mydirectory/myfile"); };
log { source(src); filter(f_local); destination(localmessages); };
then I won't see any log message in /home/mydirectory/myfile. Instead, I observe that there is an error message in /var/log/messages showing "Error opening file for writing; filename='/home/mydirectory/myfile', error='Permission denied (13)'".
This scenario works with SUSE 10. So I am wondering if I miss out some configuration or settings.
Anybody can help me out. Thanks a lot.
