I downloaded the latest Ubuntu version recently and installed. When asked for user name and password it will not accept the ones I choose during install. I have deleted and reinstalled several times being careful to not choose OEM install. The install goes smooth until the login. Any help is appreciated.
I am curently running WinXP and want to dual boot until I become familiar enough with Linux to get rid of XP. I am using 200GIG free contigious space on first hard drive.
I have installed this on kid's computer with no problem, so far I'm very impressed.
You could try to use your Windows user/password to login (if that's not what you enter during the install). Otherwise, I would suggest downloading the Alternate Installation CD and trying the install that way. It is a bit more complicated, but still pretty easy for someone new to Linux. Just don't overwrite your Windows partition.
