When you boot does grub come up? Does it show you a pretty graphical menu with the "Gentoo Linux 2.6.11-r3" on the list or does it come up with the error right away?

oh! sorry ... grub does come up.. then when i press "enter" there are scripts loading... then at the bottom the error message appears

I'm sorry, I seamed to have led you astray a bit. I didn't realize that the genkernel uses a ramdisk for root. Your going to need to set root=/dev/ram0 instead of /dev/hda3. Also, I'm not sure what text editor your using or whatnot, but make sure the read_root=/dev/hda3 udev part is on the same line as the rest of the kernel options.

BTW... do not bump your post more then once in a 36 hour period or twice ever. The forum software automatically bumps posts with no response.

Bump posts tend to annoy the users and make them less likely to respond.

oh! i'm terribly sorry about the ups and bumps.. it's just that i'm in hurry to make gentoo work as this is my first time to install from the command line ... i'm just excited

btw, i use nano to edit the config.. thanks again
