Prevention of auto mount of usb drives

Thanks in advance:

I want to PREVENT my USB flash drives and external hdd's from auto mounting when I plug them in. Does the answer lie in /etc/fstab? Last week I learned how to auto mount a drive, now I want to do the opposite.

Welcome to LinuxQuestions.org. No, auto-mounting has nothing to do with /etc/fstab. It's handled by udev, udisks, and the desktop environment. Which distro and desktop environment are you using?

So sorry for the late response, I was dealing with a personal issue.
Anyway, it’s Mint 19 an I learned the other day to use dconf program and it works great.

Thanks again, Pat Morgan
