Prevent history logging

Is there anyway to prevent entries from being written to the history log. I share an account with several other people on the system and would like to prevent the other users from seeing my entries in the history log.

Yes, there are ways of stopping this, it depends on your shell.

I'd suggest figuring out what shell you use then typing 'man ( the shell you use )'

I'm using the Korn shell, but there doesn't seem to be an easy way to prevent entries to the history file.

In Solaris, I can easily prevent history entries by utilizing the Bourne shell.

Reading the man-page should have helped ...

I found an entry for HISTSIZE ... default is 128. If you
did something like export HISTSIZE=0 that should actually
disable the history (between sessions anyway). Just a
guess, can't be bothered to fire up ksh and play with it ;}

Cheers,
Tink
