I recently installed linux redhat 9. And finally i relized that without internet i am not able to do anyhing so i was trying to make an internet connection with the installation wizzard ( i got a dsl connection through my router) at the end of a installation it says that i cannot activate connection cuz it doesnt have proper driver for my lan card (3C940 Gigabit Pci LAN). So i was trying to install it from my matherboard's boot cd (it has the driver for linux) i was doing everying what they say in the installation instraction, but i still dont see my driver in the that options where i chose the driver for my card


Basicly my problem is that I cant install the lan driver for 3C940 Gigabit Pci LAN card. Maybe someone can help me with lunux installation/compilation commands. Thank you. (sorry for very newbie question)

Once your driver is compiled, test it by inserting it with insmod:
to install your driver "permanently" (in fact at the rigth place), copy it into /lib/modules/2.4.2?/kernel/drivers/net/, then you can do modprobe on it... And to be sure that your driver works correctly: when it's inserted, try:
and if you see a correct output, it means that your driver works
