Please HELP w/ server install/localhost config problems
Greetings all. I recently tried to install web server on RH9 Linux. No problem w/ installation itself. However....starting it is a problem.
I get this message: httpd failed. The error was: Starting httpd: httpd:
Could not determine the server's fully qualified
domain name, using 127.0.0.1 for ServerName
[FAILED]
Part of the problem may be my network 'localhost' setup/config. Please note when I login, I get this warning message: Could not look up internet address for CPE00e06f23ccf1-CM00e06f23ccf0.
This will prevent GNOME from operating correctly.
It may be possible to correct the problem by adding
CPE00e06f23ccf1-CM00e06f23ccf0 to the file /etc/hosts.
I can login anyway and I have working internet connection.
Now, I've tried appending "CPE00e06f23ccf1-CM00e06f23ccf0" to /etc/hosts file using the cat >> command. I still get this warning message at every login. And when in the Terminal (bash) I'm user@CPE00e06f23ccf1-CM00e06f23ccf0 instead of user@localhost. How do I go about changing the setting/s so I'm user@localhost?
Also note that I'm connected via USB to a Terayon cable modem (Ethernet card not 100%) Any helpful feedback is greatly appreciated.
