password change

Hi all,

I am wondering when changing password eg. passwd root & root1, does it enable password expiring as it happens in Solaris. Is there a command or a file to check whether the id expires and how to make it non-expiry ?

By default its no-expiry for the users you create.

To set expiry use the command usermod [-e option]
See
man usermod

And to change the default settings , change the file

/etc/login.defs
