I have 3 identical drives and I would like to set up software raid 5. I have read that raid 5 will not boot Ubuntu so the boot partitian has to be mirrored. Is this true?

I have made several attempts to install and configure raid 5 during load and it simply has not happened. Machine locks up.

I have been trying to setup 5 partitions the same on all three drives but when I create the MD that is as far as I can go.

I first setup a 100mb primary and the rest equal size 30 gig logical partitions but again the setup blows up during the creation of MD0. I would like to undestand this setup and redo the configuration with LVM drives down the road.

Any assistance would be helpful.
