Parsing Errors when upgrading .

Hello,
I am John Tankersley and I am inquiring for help concerning upgrading from Ubuntu 19.0 to 20.0 version.
I am having parsing errors when I attempt this.
/etc/update-manager/release-upgrades
Source contains parsing errors
'/etc/update-manager/release-upgrades'
Line 7 'normal - Check to see if a new release is available
If more than one new \n'
Line 8
release if found, the release upgrade will attempt to upgrade to \n'
Line 9 the supported release that immediately succeeds the \n'
Line 10 currently -running release.\n'
So if anyone could help me with this I would very much appreciate it.
Thank-you
John Tankersley john_tnkrsly@yahoo.com

Only an upgrade from ubuntu 19.10 (that is, the october interim release) to 20.04 is supported, 19.04 is already some months out of support.
Do a fresh install.

PS: update from 18.04lts to 20.04 is possible too, but no other releases, the version you're coming FROM must still be supported by Canonical (and 16.04 can only be done done in two steps: 16.04 -> 18.04 -> 20.04)
