Oops, I accidentally deleted my NTFS partition!!! How to recover?
I accidentally did a quick-format on my external HD.
Here's what happened.
I was reinstalling XP on a desktop and didn't notice my external HD was plugged in. From the setup program I deleted the external HD's partition adn did a quick format.
Now I have my external HD which appears empty as a result of the quick ntfs format I did.
How do I go about recovering my files from the external HD?
I figure since I did a quick format it didn't actually clear the sectors, just rewrote the partition table and the MFT.
I plugged the external HD into a system running gparted-live. It shows the current partition. How do I go about recovering the old partition?
* Both partitions consumed the entire disk. When I deleted it I didn't redefine the boundaries of the partition, just deleted the partition and recreated it using a quick format.
Any help is appreciated - I've got my second system standing by running gparted-live.
