Ooops! Force Terminated Synaptic, now it won't launch ....

I don't know what I did...

I wanted to install ever single piece of missing software, so I selected all from the list given to me in Synaptic, but after waiting 30 minutes for the check boxes to appear, I force terminated Synaptic. Now Synaptic and Adept won't work. When opening Adept, I get the following alert in a message box:
Database Locked

Another process is using the packaging system database (probably some other Adept application or apt-get or aptitude).
Would you like to attempt to resolve this problem? No will enter read-only mode and Cancel to quit and resolve this issue yourself.

How do I restore my system back to normal, and then, how do I install of of the extra packages at once?

Thanks for the help!

So, when I click okay, I get another error report, giving a bug, and saying I should report the bug.

Any suggestions about how to repair this mishap?
