It's a pretty lame computer really. It's only a 1.3ghz w/ 512, but it does pretty good with linux. Bloody painful with XP. I think sometimes it's better if you DON'T manage to go 10 years without data loss, if you be running XP. It just gets to be a bigger mess.
And every couple of years we get opportunity to buy it all over again.
My 2c
I have two identical 40GB 7200rpm drives and a raid card in that computer, haven't had the time to set up a RAID0 yet. I want to try using the old 1.3 P3 for audio recording. We'll see if it can keep up. I also have an external firewire drive, which would be my second choice I guess.
