<---Noobie---help!

Whats up everyone!! Hope you all are doing well!

Got some problems here, I'm new and trying to work my way through it.

I'm using a VMware Workstation with Redhat 9, and it loaded alright, but then I went to boot. It was in id:3:initdefault, so I went and changed it to id:5:initdefault in vi /etc/inittab. yeah so then I reboot, says its in 5 now, but now I get; INIT: Id "x" respawning too fast: disabled for 5 minutes.
it also says this in my editor;
x:5:respawn:/etc/X11/prefdm -nodaemon

Am I missing my Gnome or KDE?
Help me if you are able to please.

Thank you everyone!
Indica
