non local files

It's worked for me in the past, what is this now?
Dragging a video to k3b I get the message "non local files not supported".
I don't understand.

Neither do we, without details. You don't tell us anything about the file, version/distro of Linux, version of K3b, anything that's been updated/done/changed since it last worked, where the input file is coming from, etc. Without details, we can't guess.

That typically means that the file you're trying to use is on a network drive (that is "non-local"). Copy it to your hard drive for use.

Yes, for some reason this has been normal behavior for a while. The web search for the issue goes back a while.

Easy is to do as TB0ne suggested. Harder may be to look at how you access this resource. Do easy.

One web page suggested smb support.

That must have been the distant past. Here is a 12 years old thread about this error: https://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=827219.
