newly made desktop folders not showing up in Linux Mint7(ubuntu 9.04)


when I make an "untitled" folder to my desktop, nothing shows up.

When you navigate to the Desktop folder in nautilus or a terminal can you see the folder? Can you see other things on the desktop?

I think I'm using the standard Gnome desktop that comes with Linux Mint7/Ubuntu 9.04

Play with the mintDesktop application and see if changing settings on that fixes it for you. It's under system - preferences, or I think it is in the control panel thing.

Is the Computer icon on the desktop? I think that was default on mine, since I didn't turn it on.
