Newer version software for LFS
Hello Everyone. Newbie here. I'm from Sri Lanka. I have been using linux almost for 2 years now. Most of the time copying & pasting. Now I thought give it a go with learning linux instead of copying. So I started going through LFS book. Currently I'm on Xubuntu 20.04.5 on AMD 64 laptop. My question is Xubuntu uses some of the listed software on the LFS book newer ones and some are not installed at all.
Now LFS suggests using exact same software versions that are used making the book. How can I do it?? Is it ok to download 2 versions of the same software? If installed, What is the version be used when building software?
Here I included the results from version-check.sh script.
