Newbie Install Problems.

Hi everyone I tried the following Distros.

Knoppix
Goes blank on boot. Tried their F2 screen and all the options there. Doesn't help.

Red Hat 7.3
Will not install with windows in another partition. So installed on entire disk. Screen was shaking all the time. When I logged out, it frooze. Even on boot and start again, it would freeze on login.

Mandrake 9.1
Will install but NOT RUN KDE. Freezes at the blue screen soon after start/login.

I have 333Mhz PC with 156 MB Ram.

Any suggestions and assistance appreciated.

Vijay

I have to install windows from my backup that has Fat32 partition system. Hence, I get an error message saying fatal error, install aborted towards the end of red hat installation, at this time it tries to install a Fonts File. The error message says that this could be due to bad media or lack of drive space or hardware problems. The file it freezes at is tetex-fonts-1.0.7-47 (or something close to it). Thanks.

I also have just a 4 gig HD. Hence with windows and Red Hat installed I almost reach the top limit. Wonder if this also can affect performance ?

Some feel that this could be a Video Card Problem. Any suggestions on how that can be solved ? I envy those with older machines running Linux without problems.
