new openssl 1.1.0 - broken compatibility with openssl 1.0.1

Hi,

I have been using Centos 7 for some time and have just started testing Fedora (28) on separate partition. I encrypted some files using openssl v1.0.1e on Centos which I tried to decrypt in Fedora. I realised openssl on Fedora is newer and unfortunately incompatible with version shipped with centos. When I try to decrypt files I've got error "Bad decrypt" and everything is exactly the same including pass phrase and salt.

When I was googling this problem, I was hoping to find an option for openssl 1.1.0, which would bring compatibility back to a previous version but I could not find anything. Do you know if it's possible to "switch" openssl to its previous version, something like std=c++98 in GCC?

Thanks.

Try adding "-md md5" to your command line on the machine with openssl 1.1.0
