Network Configuration in vmware

Hello Friends.
Thanks yu very much you all that you helped me a lot to learn Linux. Today i have another question..
I have installed the RHEL 5 in vmware player.
I able to surf Internet in that ... but it is take ip address via dhcp, but will i give it the static ip address it don't ping the home router,
My concenrn is i want to configure my virtual system as the getway should be my home router .
when i run the route command it shows the default getway address of 192.168.1.158 , but my home router ip is 192.168.0.1
I change the ip address using this command
# ifconfig etho 192.168.0.123 netmask 255.255.255.0
and change the getway address from the # setup command
* i checked the /etc/sysconfig/network-script/ifcfg-eth0 file also,,, and the getway address was 192.168.0.1 after changing the with the setup command .

This is what i did to make it work. but no luck.
* Now from here i need your help .. please help me

vmware player will use NAT networking by default, if you want a direct link between the VM and the router, you'd need to enable bridged networking.
