Unhappy Netmask resets to gateway address

Running fc10. Why is it the the netmask is the same as the gateway in the network dialog box in GNOME. I try to reset it to 255.255.255.0 and when I go back and check it it has copied the gateway address. Is there a problem in GNOME admin tools? Any suggestions.

I reset it in terminal window as root and that seemed to work. Whats up with that?

Thanks,
Ron

If the netmask is really being reset to the gateway IP, it's definitely a bug. On the other hand, you are using an old Fedora version, which means the problem you noticed may have been solved months ago.

Is there some compelling reason why you are not using Fedora 11?

Question Netmask resets to gateway address

I my original post I neglected to say I have another rack server which does not have the netmask reseting problem. I re-installed fc10 in the resetting and that did not take of the problem. Any other suggestions?

Hi rcmonroig,

I think it would be helpful if you post your complete ip-configuration here. At least the output of ifconfig and the configuration for your networkinterface.
