Need to Installing a Desktop Environment on a Centos 5.5 server to run VNC

Hey Guys,

I've done the following:

yum groupinstall "GNOME Desktop Environment" "X Window System"

but when I connect via, VNC I get a minimalist screen and console.

I ran "startx" and got this:

_XSERVTransSocketOpenCOTSServer: Unable to open socket for inet6
_XSERVTransOpen: transport open failed for inet6/hostname:0

Errors from xkbcomp are not fatal to the X server

Can anyone help me out?

I need to get a real desktop environment running on this box.

Centos 5.5

Have you read this page:

http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/VNC-Server

Look at Section 2.4, Create xstartup scripts. Just replace 'twm' with the window manager / desktop environment of your choice. For example, if you'd like GNOME to start up, insert 'exec gnome-session &'.
