Thumbs up Need to convert pdf file to text format in linux 4.7

Hai everyone,

I have an issue with my Linux, could anyone send me the solution for my problem...

I have an pdf file on my linux RHEL 4.7 machine. I can open that file but when i click on 'saveas' to save the file in 'Text' format there are no options i see there. I need to save the 'pdf' file to 'text' format. could anyone tell me how to save the pdf file to Text format. Iam using 'KDE'

There is a command in Linux pdf2txt, where you can convert your PDF files into text files.

Your formatting won't be intact if you are converting them to ASCII text. I'd suggest you to use pdftohtml(http://pdftohtml.sourceforge.net/). You won't lose a whole lot of the formatting with it, and you can always use an HTML to text converter if you absolutely need the text format (http://jsoftco.8m.com/download.html).

i tried with the command pdf2txt but got the message command not found.

You need to install pdftotxt package in order to use that command.

Download and install it first:

It is really big but openoffice is useful for converting pdf as well as other office functions.

Is the file protected?
