my monitor gives out of frequency error from startx! command line ok


I have tried to edit my /ect/x11/xorg.conf and have error server is no longer running, remove /tmp/.X0-lock and start again?

After deleting the lock file, you might want to try renaming the xorg.conf file (don't delete it - if this doesn't work, you'll want to restore it) and re-running startx.
